Another year, another way to get inspired in your home.
If you're looking for home decor trends, look no further. We have gathered some of our favourite new ideas.
Tip #1 - Colour is Back.
If you're looking to really shake things up, I got news for you. Colour is back, and yes you heard that right. Since the start of 2020 people have been revamping and redoing their homes in beautiful soft neutrals, as we spent a lot of time nesting over the past couple of years.
With everyone ready to start normal living again we are seeing in an increase in maximalism and vibrant colours in the home as an expression of freedom and creativity. Luckily there are many ways to start dipping your toe into colour, starting with soft pastels or muted greens. You can see some of my favourite photos from Pinterest below.
Tip #2 - Go Big or Go Home.
Literally, everything is bigger. I am seeing a shift towards bigger statement pieces of furniture like accent chairs, vases, and mirrors.
Instead of having the traditional decorations that consist of a lot of smaller items, people are shifting towards large "wow factor" pieces in their homes.
Tip #3 - Minimalism VS Maximalism
The shift towards minimalism definitely created a divide between people. We see a lot more extremism in people.
Both have their own appeal, where maximalism allows you to collect and cherish many objects, minimalism creates a peaceful sanctuary consisting of very few items and this rejects the capitalistic ideals of constantly purchasing new things.
Personally I would say I am a minimalist because it is more efficient for me to find things I need when I live organized and minimally but I see the beauty in both.
